Rulecraft frame

Welcome to the first post of this rules section, if you have played any of the White Wolf's games in World of Darkness you will find this rules very familiar, if not, don't worry, this section its thinked to make your life easy when it comes to the rules of this game.

As they are some modifications to the rules as you will find it in the core vampire: the masquerade handbook they won't be treated in this particular post, here you will find official rules alone in a very summarized form, adapted, of course to the particularities of roleplaying by forum.

Game dynamics: roleplaying by forum requieres less commitment than the average roleplaying game when it comes to schedules and punctuality, still it needs some of it. Players and ST alike should post at least once per day to keep all scenes updated. Players who doesn't attend to this rule will be taken out of the scene one day after all the other players have updated theirs, of course they will be flexibility with those players who have their characters roleplaying alone (not interfiering with other's roleplay dynamic) but even in those case for the sake of the chronicle I must say "Your character matters!" that means that part of the plot depends directly on your character, and on it's player too.

Time Line: each character will follow a linear time line, for this reason they won't be allowed simultaneus scenes, other player's scenes will be time related to each player's scene building a coherent time frame to be reference at all times.

Turns and rounds: each Scene (Topic) its divided in rounds, which its compoused by all interacting players turns, this means that one round ends when all players in it take their Turn (Post a replay) in normal condition each player can post one post per round unless the other players declares a Hold (by pass their turn), if so the remaining actives players can post without waiting for that players replay. A player in Hold may end it at will and become active in consequence at any moment he wishes.

Combat and out of combat scenes: there is a huge diference between this two types of scenes, while in a out-of-combat scene a player may feel free to interact move and say with few limitations of time, in a combat scene each action (even talking!) must be taken in consideration because there are several limitations on the amount of actions that each player can do during any given Round.
Out-of-Combat Scene Limitations:
1. All actions taken by any players must be within 1 minute frame max when interacting with other characters, player's or non-player's alike.
2. No violence allowed. If a player want to take any violent action against other character he must call for a combat scene, from that point and on the scene will be treated as combat scene (rules below)
3. Crafting and rearching scenes are also out of combat scenes that can only be performed alone or when all other characters in it partake in that particular doing. This scenes will be mesure in a different time scale, where each post may take as long as 1 hour or more.

Combat scene rules: are meant to hurt another character or physically engage in combat, all types of violence from magical fireballs to a fist in the face fall in this category. While in this scene all players are chained by the following limitations:
1. All actions must be taken within 1 minute time window.
2. No player can leave the scene until she scapes or the scene ends. If a player is unactive for more than 1 day after all other players had update their turn the ST will overtake that character and use it as he see fit the best in the scene, while its not common that a player dies in the hands of the storyteller it may happend, if that player reappears he may continue retake control of her character.
3. At the begining of each round all players iniciative will be rolled by: 1d10 + Dexterity + Wits of that character, the character with the lowest initiative will describe what is he planning to do in that Round, for example "Use Celerity, run to the ladder and shot Marcus in the face", then the next to the lowest will describe his actions to the other players, and so on until the player with the most initiative starts to act, at that point the player's turns order will start with the highest initiative and end with the lowest one. all players must do their actions as told before with the only exception of defensive manuevers, any player may change one or all his actions to a defensive movement by succeeding a Willpower roll.
4. All actions will be classified as: free action, standard actions or full round actions, depending on the complexity and characteristics of it. A player may take an infinite amount of free actions as long as he performs one of each type at most, a player may split her dice pool to perform several standard actions in her turn and any player can perform only one full round action each turn.
Free actions: talk, look, hear, jump less than a meter, unsheathe fangs, spend blood (as many time as permited by your generation), spend temporary willpower, and so on.
Standard Actions: walk, joggle, punch, kick, jump more than a meter, withdraw a gun, shoot a gun, dodge, parry, and so on.
Full round actions: run, full defensive manuever, operating a complex device task such as a computer, and anyother action that requieres alot of concentration.
